    fair green. Toll is paid at the rate of 4d a head for cattle. It is paid to the owner of the fair green. The luck given is cattle is 2/6 to the buyer.
    This money is called luck, it is calculated on what ever the parties agree. When the bargain is made the parties show the agreement by striking their hands. The animals are marked with red paint. Sometimes there is a cut on their backs. When an animal is sold sometimes his halter is brought home or sometimes it is given to the buyer
    Special fairs are held in October for cattle. Ballinasloe is the most important town for fairs.

  2. There is a fair held in every town and most villages where there are fair greens. There are two fairs held in Cappatagle each year. The fairs are held on the 13th of May, and on the 28th of October.
