  1. In Penal Times
    In the townland of Donaree and in the parish of Cappatagle there is a field owned by Patrick Clarkes and there is a rock in it called the Mass Rock. Mass was celebrated there in times gone by. All the Catholic Churches were burned and the priests were afraid they would be seen saying Mass. They were afraid to go out through the country on account of the priest hunters.
    There is a Mass path at the back of Michael Finn's house in Donaree. The priests used to say Mass in the houses and the pay was 5/-
