    September and October fairs are held for one week. At the fairgreen gate the people pay custom for each animal. Sixpence is paid for cattle two-pence for sheep Sixpence for horses four-pence for pigs. For each horse five shillings luck is giving, A half-crown for cows and a shilling for sheep and pigs. A halter or rein is also given with the horse.
    The people mark sheep with raddle and cattle with tar. Pigs used to be marked once with a cut in the shin. but that way is now said to be cruel and the mark them with clay.
    If the buyer and seller have any argument about the price for the animal someone near them would tell them to divide the difference and they would then divide the difference between them.
