  1. Long ago the people used to have a lot of customs for Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
    Shrove Tuesday night they used to make pan-cakes and for that reason it is called pan-cake night. They used to have meat also on that night because they used to fast from it during the Lent.
    Ash Wednesday the people used to begin fasting. They used to go to Mass in the morning and put a cross on their foreheads with holy ashes. Others who used not go to Mass used to burn
