  1. There are a lot of Forges in this parish. McCormacks in Kilgevrin, Costello's in Brooklawn, Godvins in Garnfield, (Sil) Silkes in pollaturick, Kellys in Kilbennon and Murra(r)ys in Tullinadays.
    The forge nearest us is McCormacks. Michael McCormack that built it there. He had a forge in Milltown. About seven years ago he left Milltown and set up in Kilgevrin. He makes gates, grates, tongs, cranes. He puts shoes on horse He also shoes tyres. The principal tools he has are :- The anvil, bellows, rasp, Bar of iron, vice sledge, hammer, pincers, bench, knife, and trough.
