  1. The candles of long ago were made out of bullrushes. They used to go to the bog for the bullrushes. They used to peel them and dry they and put them into grease and use them as they wanted them

  2. The people of long ago made their own lights, and it was a very easy way to make it. They used to get the rushes in mountain fields or bogs and when they were not able to go to the bog they would get them in the fields. They used to have them by the fire to season as they would be too soft to light.
