    children to speak the Irish language. It is said that all the scholars had to put a string on a stick and tie it around their necks. The next morning the teacher would know if they spoke Irish.

  2. There was a school in Cashel many years gone by. My father went to it. There was a great number of scholars in it. It was a thatched (and) school and it's ruins are there still. It was a very large school/ The place in which it stood is now called the "Big bush of Cashel".
