  1. In this district about sixty years ago and even later briocan was the evening meal after the days work was done. It was made mainly of oatmeal and water but flavoured with salt and vegetables such as onion and sometimes turnip. In some places when cooking the "briocan" they a boiled a cake in the "briocan". This cake was made with flour and oatmeal.
