    there was always a test of strength for the best man for lifting bags of oats.
    He could take a 2 cut bag of oats with one hand and swing it over his head without any trouble. Outside his home now can be seen the weight he used to throw.

  2. Spinning, weaving and carding were some of the occupations to be found in those days, even to the colouring of theflannel there was a colouring pot in every household. Flax weaving was also to be seen, linen sheets, tablecloths etc, for the use of the household.
