    There was an old man and his wife going to the fair of Athenry one day selling a cow.

    (continued from previous page)
    "I wish", said the wife, "I had one of those spindles." She had hardly it said when the spindle was handed to her.
    "I wish", said her husband, "it was stuck in your mouth". And it was.
    He had to give the third wish to get the spindle back out of her mouth.
