  1. About six miles from this place there is a little village called Carnan and it is in the parish of Killinin and Co Galway. There lived a king in that village a long time ago and he had a lot of gold. Another king heard of this gold and he said that he would not be satisfied until he would get the gold.
He gathered a great army and he went to fight the other king. The two armies had a battle that lasted six long weeks and more. When the king that had the gold saw that he was beaten he called one of his servants and he told him to bury the gold near the palace.
The kings men searched the palace but they could not get the gold and the king that had the gold prepareg a great feast and he invited all the men that were fighting with him to the feast. The gold that the servant hid is there yet and is guarded by a big black cat.
