    There was once a man and he said he never got enough to eat.

    and to have plenty of timber every day. Then they ate their dinner. The woman got a sledge and went out throwing sledges. The giant had the first throw and he threw it three miles. The other man went up on top of a hill and began to whistle. The giant went after him and asked him what he going to do. He said he was calling brother the blacksmith that was seven years idle and he wanted him to throw the sledge. The giant ran away and took the sledge with him and hid it in his house. The giant's wife told him that she would know at supper time who was the best man. She killed two goat and had them for supper with porrage. The other man got a goat's skin and put it inside his coat and sat down for supper. The giant and his wife drank eleven pints of soup and the other man drank twenty-one. The giant and his wife said they had enough and the man said that he hadn't half enough. Then the man got a knife and cut his false stommoch and the giant thought it would not take any effect on him. The giant got another knife and cut his and he fell dead, and that proved the better man.
