Ballinasloe. - 3. In former times boys made spinning tops out of spools by pointing one end of the spool and putting a stick down in the middle on which to spin the top. The top of the stick must be pointed.
Snares for catching rabbits were made of brass wire and a rod. The wire was twisted and made into a loop like a lassoo. The rabbit ran through the loop and was caught.
Girls made chains out of daisies, buttercups and other flowers. They also played rounders and jack-stones.Got from,
