    the holy seasons except on St. Patrick's Day. The particular season when most marriages took place was between Christmas and Lent. Any young lady not married during the season was long ago chalked on "Chalk Sundy" in Lent also, called "Puss Sunday" - 1st Sunday in Lent as the Ladies not married were expected to feel disappointed and sulky.

    2. It is considered unlucky to get married in the month of May. In olden times people used to get married before Shrove Tuesday. There is an old rime which tells us the lucky and unlucky days:
    "Monday for wealth
    Tuesday for health
    Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
