    Local Place Names
There are a number of names on the fields in Killure namely Gort Bán because the land has a kind of a white colour.
Gort Donncadh is so called because there were Donnoghues living in that field.
There is also a field called the liosín which means little fort because long ago unbaptized children were buried there.
The Curragh is also another name because the land is boggish. Lawn na gcapall is so named because there is nothing kept in it except horses.
The bogán is also the name of a field because the water never leaves it.
