    and it is said that the woman knocked out the man. The best horse that Mrs Kirwin had was called Fryer and the Jock's name was Seán Boy. Any race that Fryer ran he was sure to win it. It is said that Fryer was a young horse that a tramp had and one day this tramp had a tent at the "Gurranes Racecourse" and had Fryer there. When Fryer saw the horses running he followed them and came in first. After this Mrs Kirwin bought him and his head is still in Castlehacket. There used to be six days racing. Every year in the winter time there comes a big flood on the spot. At the time of the races people used to get turf moul and put it across the road as there were two halfs of the racecourse, one on one side of the road. There are about seventy acres of a race course in it. There are a lot of large rocks on the race course inside the wall on both sides of the road.
