  1. Knockmai near Castlehackett is a historic spot a round here were fought several battles in very ancient times. The fierce OFlaherty Clann were driven across Lough Corrib to Connemara in the second century. I am unable to tell what others were the victors but it was only along term of severe fighting the succeeded. It is traditionally believe that a Irish Queen is buried on this hill under a large heap of stones and that fairies wander around the place there. People come a great distance to see this place and the view from the on a clear day.
