  1. Long ago an old English man lived in Ballymote about two miles from Tuam. His name was Hubert Lott. He had a dream that a pot of gold was hidden in a little hill near by. He sent his men to dig up this hill and when they were about four feet from the top they came to a big flag. There was written in large print "Stop, and go no further".
    Smoke began to come out from under this flag and the men got frightened and stopped. This hill is here yet and you can still see the flag if you went near it
