    specimen of Norman architecture as any other church in Great Britain or Ireland can boast. It is generally attributed to Turlough O'Connor (1130); its date is certainly between 1128 a (when O'Hoison became abbot) and 1152.
    The Cross of Tuam (of sandstone) was once broken into three pieces, each the property of a different ownen. The pieces are now happily united and re-erected. The base contains inscriptions in memory of O'Hoisin the abbot, and of Turlough O'Connor, King of Connacht.
    In Tullindaly near Tuam there is a leacht or heap of stones. There is a slab in the wall near the leacht. Cathairs, or stone forts, are to be seen near Tuam, amangst the largest being Cahermore between Tuam and
