- I. First to get water out of well on May Morning luck for the year. This was said.
II. In West Clare May Eve - all the fires were put out entirely - not a [deirín] left. All were watching in the morning to see who had fire down first. That person would have all the bad luck. Bad women were going around with small balls of butter in their hands. When they'd see the smoke they'd throw the ball of butter towards the smoke saying
"do chuid im se chugam
Once one fire was lit all the others were lit then.
- Leave hand in hollow stone containing rain water - must not be looking for the stone
I Wart: Catch one eel, cut off head - rub blood on wart
II Burn: (a) lick a lizard three times
(b) Hog's lard mixed with juice of ivy leaf.
III Measles: Roast mouse given to child to eat
IV St. Anthony's Fire : Cut tail off a black cat + rub to sore
V Toothache: Get frog - put in room where patient is sleeping until it decays.
VI Chin-cough: Ask man passing with white horse for cure go out before him and say "Fear an chapill bhain cad a leigheasfadh an triuch," cure often given was boiled milk and sugar(continues on next page) - Informant
