Fadó nuair nach raibh aon choinnle le ceannacht rinne na daoine páideóga as raigeanna tumaighthe i ngeir beithí agus caoirigh leághta i bpota. Sul a bhí na crochadóirí déanta mar anois bhí píosaí ádhmaid ag dul ó bhalla go balla sa tsimléir agus bhí na rópaí deanta as fionnadh capaill.
Bhí na sean-chiseán déanta as crann-sally. Bhí leasú déanta as scraitheanna dóighte amuigh ins na guirt.

This is how the people made candles long ago. First they got an article like a small boat called grisset. Into this they put lard or tallow. Then they put lard or tallow. Then they got a piece of cloth one yard long and one inch wide. They twisted it until it became very thin. That was called a páideóg When the tallow was melted
