  1. There was a leprechaun seen around this place many years ago. It was seen under some trees that are in the village yet to-day. A man named John Murry and many others saw this leprechaun many a night as they were passing from their visit.
    He wore a red cap with a long peak, a green coat and a long black trousers. He was making shoes and sang as he worked. They watched him closely to see what he tacked the shoes with. It pulled the little thorns from the haw thorn tree and used them as tacks. He made an awl from a briar head and with this he bore the holes for the tacks.
    He was seen there many a night until someone asked him for gold. He tried to fool the person in every way and at last he got vexed and said some words and the person got a weakness and when he awoke there wasn't a sight of the leprechaun to be had and he was never seen again after that.
    There was a boy Barnaderg last year who was supposed to have caught a leprechaun. He planned to have caught him under a bush and that he brought him in and put him in a
