- There are two forges in this parish, one in Corofin and one in Dunbeag. The forge in Dunbeg belongs to Peter Dolan and the forge in Corofin belongs to Thomas Hurney. It did not always belong to him but it belonged to Peter Dolan's uncle and Thomas Hurney got it when he married the Blacksmith's daughter.
Peter Dolan's father and grandfather were smiths and Thomas Hurney's father and grandfather were smiths.
The forge in Dunbeg is situated in the townland of Ballinapark. It is on the side of the road which is near Ballinstack cross-roads. The forge in Corofin is situated in townland of Mahanagh near the river Clare and on the side of the road.
There is a wide timber door in each of the forges. It is a slated roof that is in the in forge in Dunbeg and it is a sheet iron roof that is in forge in Corofin.
