  1. One night there was a man going up the avenue in Monellan with a cart. His name was Joe Kelly. There came a man and got a hold of the wing of the cart. Joe Kelly told him to get into the cart or else get away from the cart. The man got into the cart and sat down beside Joe. He was a black man and he had no head on him. The horse ran away and the two wheels fell off the cart. The black man disappeared into the ground. The horse ran on until he went in the door as far as the cross head of the cart would let him.
It is said that the devil is in Monellan.
