    The next thing he had to do was to clean a barn that was not cleaned for a hundred years. The boy began to (mark) work and for every grapeful he put out, seven would come in. The little boy did not know what to do so he sat down and began to cry. The girl came and blew a whistle and at that a lot of men came and they had the barn cleaned in about five minutes.
    The next punishment was to get a ring that the little red man had lost in a well forty feet deep He had to get the girls five fingers to make steps down to the well in order to get the ring [?] when he was coming up he forgot one of her fingers and she was in a bad way. Every night her father [?] to count his daughter's fingers and that[?] night when he went to count his daughter's fingers he found she had only four and he ordered the boy and girl to be put in to a barn full of straw which was then to be set on fire
