- (continued from previous page)is called a fetters. This tying is also called a hobble. All the tyings are home-made. It is usual to have a horse shoe over the door for luck.
- The Horse.
The house where the horse is kept is called the stable. The horse is generally tied, by means of a head collar or a halter. This is made of leather. In the stable in front of the horse is the manger, out of which he eats his food. The food consists of hay, oats, mangolds, and bran, (generally at night) and in Summer he is out in the green grass. The horse needs to be shod regularly, that is iron shoes are put on him. To do this he is taken to the forge. In the Winter time the horse has a thick coat of hair on him and this is clipped occasionally so(continues on next page)
