- Chilblains are very common in this district. There are numerous cures for this complaint. The cures are as follows.
Put a poultice of loaf bread steeped in vinegar on the chilblain and allow it to remain on them overnight . The vinegar burns the pain away and also reduces the swelling.- Collector

- Roasted salt is applied to the chilblains nightly before retiring to bed. As a result the salt and its substance removes both pain and swelling.
