    The goods would be hauled up through the hole with a rope. This smuggling went on for many years until the authorities became more watchful and then the smuggling stopped. These caves are still in existence and may be inspected at any time at low tide. They extend from Tower Bay to the boundaries of Portrane Mental Hospital.
