South west wind brings most rain in Loughshinny district. When the cattle make for high ground it is the sign of rain. Streamers from the sun is the sign of east-wind. A copper dawning is the sign of good weather.
When the seagulls come in over land it is also a sign of coming rain and storm.

  2. When the swallows fly low it is a sign of rain. All the winged insects fly low when it is going to rain. When it is a calm day the smoke comes up straight out of the chimney. The smoke will show us the way the wind is blowing. People near the sea keep a bit of seaweed in their house.
