The man using the rake stands on the rocks and throws out the rake in the sea when he sees sea-weed floating. He then pulls it in with the rope. In this way he gets sea-weed which would otherwise be taken away again with the tide.
- There are three forges in the parish of Skerries. There are people called Morgans and their people before them for generations were smiths. All the forges in this parish are along the roadside. Morgans forge has a slated roof. There is only one fire in it. There are two big bellows one on each side of the fire. When the blacksmith is working the tools he uses are a hammer, sledge, pincers, rasp, and a sharp knif for paring the horses hoofs. The smith shoes horses and asses. He makes farm implements such as iron gates(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
