    The Patron Saint of Skerries
    Many stories are told about St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Skerries. One of these is that he stepped from an island named after him to the main land, a distance of about a mile. Other stories are that he sat on a rock along the north coast and that the rock can be seen yet. On an island about a mile off the east coast of Skerries there is a church named after him.
    There was an important Synod held there at which priests from all over Ireland attended.
