    Local Wedding Customs.
    Skerries, Co. Dublin.
    In Skerries weddings take place all during the year except in Lent, but mostly the marriages take place in the summer. The people do not make matches here nowadays, but in other parts of the country it is still quite a common custom.
    Money is very seldom given as dowry by the people, but gifts, such as clocks, tea sets, silver, sets of crockery, and other such presents are very common as dowry.
    Nowadays, couples are marries in the Church, and not in houses as done
