  1. Long ago there lived in Ireland a very rich man. He had a servant boy for looking after his stock and farm. His land lay near a castle where three giants lived.
    One evening the servant boy drove the rich man's cattle into the giant's farm. He went up a tree himself, and he brought up a bag of cards with him. After awhile one of the giants came and he said "I smell the blood off an Irish man, if I has a grain of salt I would eat him in one bite." The man shouted down to him and said "what are you saying, throw me up a stone." The giant threw him up a stone. The boy put it into the bad. He threw it down again and it was all curds. Then he asked the giant was he able to do what he had done. The giant tried it, but he was unable to do it. Then the giant told the boy to come down and he would give him swords to kill
