  1. Long ago Rahard was a big village which contained quite a good deal of houses. At the present day there are not so many because lots of the people are dead and some more are gone to America and also to other places. There are quite a lot of people in Rahard still and they are over seventy years and they are gifted Irish speakers.
    The most common of all the surnames are Jennings and Dordan (Doordan). About fifty years ago there were twenty houses in Rahard but they are now reduced to thirteen.
