  1. In olden times there was a landlord by the name of Bingham. He was very cruel to his tenants. He was very cruel to his tenants. He evicted a whole village and took the greater portion of their lands from them. Among them was an old widow woman who was also evicted.
    Bingham was very rich, there was no end to his money. After evicting the widow, he fell sick and died. His son could not live in the castle any longer, as it was haunted by his fathers ghost.
    One night his son said to one of his workmen. "If you stay one night with me in the castle I will give you five pounds." The poor workman was delighted, and agreed. One night he came to the castle, put down a good fire and sat down in a chair nice and cosy by the fire. At about midnight he heard a great noise coming down the stairs.
