In the townland of Cullentragh in the parish of Mayo Abbey in the Co of Mayo and in the lands of Thomas Fitzgerald. There is an old fort and it is said that there is a bag of gold between two lines of bushes. There once lived a man called Murphy who used to be shooting rabbits at the fort and every night he used see an old small woman coming out and sitting down and smoking a pipe. One night after he had gone home he heard a voice saying that the woman in the fort was dead and to come and put her over-board, and to dig under the bush at which he saw the woman sitting and that he would get a bag of gold, but that he would swell as big as a barrell. The voice also said that he would find a herb growing at the river and to eat it and he would reduce again. The man was afraid to go.
