In Mayo Abbey there lived a King named Garret Mor who owned a castle in the townland of Corlesland. There is a small piece of the castle left now. It is said that there is an underground celler down under the castle and it is said that there is a bag of gold hid in the celler. The land is owned by Walter Hughes. It is said that there is a hare minding the gold, when hounds follow her she changes into an old woman. There was a hound in Kildare and the owner brought the hound to catch the hare. The men and hound did not rise the hare the first day but the second day the hare rose near Garret Mors castle. The hare at first went around in a circle and the hound could not catch her. She then made for the Partry mountains and at last they saw the hare going up a big wild mountains and going
