  1. Once there was a rich man. One day as he was going along the road he saw a small cripple fishing. He said he would go down and drown this little boy. When he went down the little boy looked at the gentleman and he said he would not kill him. He asked the little boy if he liked anything he had on him. He said he would like the buttons and he gave them to him. Then he asked him if he liked anything else. He said the ribbon he had on his hat so he gave it to him. After a while this man died and the little boy died. This rich man had been a very bad man. The little met this man outside the gates of heaven and the boy had the buttons and the ribbon that the gentleman gave to him. St Peter came out and he would not let the rich man into heaven, but he let the little cripple in. He told the gentleman that he would give him one more chance to go back to earth again and to make up for the things he had done wrong.
