Once upon a time there lived a company of country boys who used to be out very late at night. One night as they were coming home at about 1 o'clock a fairy ran across the road before them and down an old boreen. One of them thought it was a girl and followed it. The rest went on thinking their companion would soon be coming after them went on. Not long afterwards they heard a cry. Back they turned and went down the boreen after the fellow. When they had gone back a good piece of the boreen they found the boy dead.
