  1. The people in olden times were very good at making home-made toys.
My mother and father when they were children played with home-made toys which their fathers and mothers made. They made little dolls out of paste board and cloth and little men and other things out of blue-clay and then let them bake in the sun.
They also made little bows-and-arrows out of wood for the boys to shoot with and little sleights for sleighing on the frost. Their parents always made new toys for them before Christmas but kept them hidden until Christmas Day.
