    In our district now we do not find as noted men as we did in former years.
    Joseph MacLaughlin Goorey in a challenge which was held in the town hall was able to lift fifty lbs in one hand above his head. Robert Boggs and John MacLaughlin two natives of Malin Head were able to lift heavy weights.
    Denis Houton Ballylinn and Denis Collins Dreenagh were swift runners. They could run one mile race in fifteen minutes at sports which were held in Lagg.
    They were also great jumpers. They jumped five feet and nine inches. These sports were attended by large crowds.
    In former years Robert Boggs and Sally Doherty Malin Head walked to Carndonagh and back again a distance of twenty miles several times a week and they were over eighty years of age.
    Two Malin Head men also, named John Kelly and John Doherty were noted oarsmen.
    John Doherty and Tommy Foulten and Eddie Houton can mow an acre of ground in one day.
