    (1) It is unlucky to meet a red-haired woman when going anywhere in business. You should turn back.
    (2) It is unlucky to meet a bare footed woman first thing in the morning.
    (3) It is unlucky for a wedding party to meet a funeral.
    (4) Magpies:-
    One for sorrow
    Two for joy
    Three for a wedding
    Four for a boy
    Five for silver
    Six for gold
    Seven for a secret not to be told
    Eight for heaven
    Nine for hell
    Ten for a trip to Malin Well
    (5) It is unlucky to put an umbrella indoors.
    (6) If you through a door with anything in your back, you should not go backwards again.
    (7) If you stoop to go under anything you will grow no more.
    (8) If you step over a seated person they will grow no bigger.
    (9) It is unlucky to look at a new moon.
