  1. There is an old ruined castle or fort on top of a hill called Crochraw not far from my home.
    There all the stones lie in a circle indicating that it was round. It has been divided into rooms as traces of the walls are still to be seen. In some places ivy is growing on the stones.
    There is a cairn of stones beside the castle and a small wishing well which is believed to heal sores. Rags, money, and many other things are left round it.
    The well is also surrounded by stones.
