  1. About ninety years ago there came a man to Caldaff House. He was a Protestant and hated both priests and religion. One day when he was down at Caldaff shore near to where he stopped he 'seen' a priest coming on horseback. The man that was with him said that he was a good "rider of a horse", and the stranger said "If he is I will test him". He had a gun and when the priest came alongside them the man fired up in the air and the horse cut a jump and tossed the priest off horesback.
    The priest rose and got on again he was badly hurt. When
