  1. Once upon a time there lived in Dunross a man that had a black cow. When he would take her in at night she would give no milk. He did not know what was wrong, so he said he would bring her to the fair and sell her.
    When he went into the byre the next morning to take her to the fair he saw a great hare sitting in under the cow. He ran to the house for the gun and he loaded the gun with a sixpence and shot the hare, he carried her out to the field and burried her.
