  1. In this parish there are three sets of Standing stones about which are many stories. There is a circle of stones on Dein or Larahirl hill. It is said the Druids used this place as a place of worship or offering up sacrifices to their gods and they looked upon these stones as gods. This place was once like a little hut covered with a great slab of stone.
    One Wm McLaughlin was supposed to take stones off it for house-building. Shortly before he took them he got a letter from no one knows who to say he was not to touch the stones. But he took no notice of the letter and broke some of the stones and shortly after this he died.
    On the evening of his death a neighbour saw him standing at the stones crying. The neighbour asked him why he was crying, and he said that some one tramped on his foot. At this same time Wm was on his death-bed
