  1. Spinning
This is how spinning is done. The spinner puts her finger on one spoke of the wheel and sets it going. Then she puts her foot on the foot-step and keeps it moving. This also sets the hook and pirn going. Then she threads the hook by a thread running from the pirn through the eye of the hook. Then she ekes a roll of wool onto the bit of thread that comes from the pirn and continues on like this until the pirn is full of thread. Then she lift down the hands and rolls up the thread in a ball.
