  1. Hallow-Eve Tricks
Long ago in the country districts, the children played tricks which are not played now in Hallow Eve nights. This is one of these tricks. One Hallow-Eve night when their parents were not looking, the children would put un-seasoned chesnuts into the fire. Later on, when the chesnuts got very hot, they would explode out of the fire, crackling merrily. This explosion would scatter the small coals and ashes all over the floor. The people would get and awful shock as they would not know what was in the fire.
