    When anything is very white and spotless it is said to be "As white as the driven snow or as clean as a new pin."
    When any person is very bold or cross looking the person they insult often says "You only need the tins to be a tinker."
    When anyone is a very yellow or sallow colour they are said to be "As yellow as a duck's foot."
    When any person is going to speak and some other person speaks at the same time the person who was going to speak often says "You drank before me" or "You took the word out of my mouth."
    When anything is very old it is said to be "As old as the hills," or as old as a field of land.
    These are some of the local sayings and proverbs which are used in every day speech around the locality.
