  1. When a wedding was coming off, the people had a very jolly time. They went on horseback with pillions under them on the horse's back for to get married, every couple on a horse. When they got married and came home they got a grand dinner and if the crowd was too large, they lit fires outside and prepared the dinner in the open air, boiling the water in pots and kettles. After dinner they would gather all their friends to make merry. Sometimes it lasted a week and sometimes longer if it was a very large one. The men all wore tall hats and the girls wore long cloaks and leghorn bonnets.
